Hi Tom!!
Rebecca Gresh (she/her)
25:04
Do you find out if your class will be reviewed?
Sharon Elizabeth Oxford
25:43
Instructors will not know if their classes will be chosen.
Kamelia Algiers
29:02
can you give more examples of how a canvas course would be one vs the other?
Rachel Messinger
29:13
Is it okay to "publish" modules ahead of time, as long as the assignments for that module aren't open yet?
Sharon Elizabeth Oxford
29:19
Hi Kammy, we will answer questions at the end.
Rachel Messinger
29:49
Analogous to the way students can read ahead in the textbook should they choose
Christy Lynn Douglass
30:02
@Rachel, I believe it's fine to even publish assignments early as long as you engage in other RSI throughout the course.
Christy Lynn Douglass
30:40
@Kamelia, my session immediately after this includes Canvas tips to meet these guidelines.
Christy Lynn Douglass
32:00
@Rachel, the bottom line is that you don't just dump everything in Canvas on day one and not provide consistent interaction throughout the remainder of the course.
Julie Campbell
32:04
Are canvas emails considered within the learning management system?
Susan Lee Kinkella
34:10
Did Laura say recorded Powerpoint lectures are considered “Providing Direct Instructor?”
Christy Lynn Douglass
34:11
@Julie, yes, however we should confirm that the accreditors can view those when they review our courses.
Diane Scrofano
35:02
It's on
Kamelia Algiers
35:06
@Christy - I'm running a session at that time. But i'll ask around
Christy Lynn Douglass
35:11
Perfect! Ruth just answered that. Be sure to share information in announcements or modules that was sent to students (anonymously, of course)
Julie Campbell
35:42
Thank you, Christy!
Christy Lynn Douglass
36:45
@Kammy, I'm sure it will be recorded, but I'm also happy to share my presentation which has links to the Canvas training for each tip I share!
Jennifer L Garner
38:09
michelle: do you actually create a canvas discussion where each student is its own group?
Rachel A Johnson
39:43
When giving feedback, sometimes I do video responses thru speed grader. Will that be considered or does feedback have to be typed?
Christy Lynn Douglass
40:00
Video feedback is definitely encouraged!
Susan Lee Kinkella
40:54
Did Laura say recorded Powerpoint lectures are considered “Providing Direct Instruction?”
Christy Lynn Douglass
41:25
@Susan, yes, prerecorded lectures are considered direct instruction.
Susan Lee Kinkella
42:40
Thank you Christy 🙂
ioana
49:58
Thank you!
Diane Scrofano
50:15
Are accreditors visiting any on-ground courses anymore or will they do all the visits virtually?
Rachel Messinger
51:22
If an assignment has a detailed rubric, how much detail are accreditors expecting in terms of comments/feedback?
Christy Lynn Douglass
53:56
@Rachel, great question! I'd love to get a sense for that because I rely heavily on detailed rubrics to provide feedback.
Ara Khanjian (he/him)
57:53
Is using Canvas “Inbox” to answer students’ questions considered interaction?
Jennifer Alicia Pavia
01:03:17
In my weekly announcements I ask a question at the end as engagement. It’s also a great way to make sure they are reading the announcements as well.
Christy Lynn Douglass
01:03:20
@Ara, yes, but the accreditors won't be able to see this so be sure to follow the information shared in messages and also share it in an announcement or module content.
Maline Diane Werness-Rude
01:04:18
Thanks! Off to a student meeting🙂
Ara Khanjian (he/him)
01:04:20
Thank you, Christy!
Christy Lynn Douglass
01:04:34
Can someone please answer Rachels question: If an assignment has a detailed rubric, how much detail are accreditors expecting in terms of comments/feedback?
Rolland Petrello - MC Comm Studies
01:04:38
Note - Image rich powerpoints are incredibly time consuming to make accessible.
Rolland Petrello - MC Comm Studies
01:05:12
for posting - not recorded lectures
Ali Suzanne Olson-Pacheco
01:05:22
@Sharon can you bubble this up in person? If an assignment has a detailed rubric, how much detail are accreditors expecting in terms of comments/feedback?
Michelle A Beard
01:06:20
We are not given standards on how much feedback is expected. They are looking for regular feedback…..that term is very unclear. As a practice, I try to give feedback when there is room for correction or needed improvement.
Christy Lynn Douglass
01:07:21
But if the rubric is detailed, are they ALSO expecting additional comments?
Michelle A Beard
01:07:21
Accreditors do NOT see our Canvas inbox.. We need to be engaging in the Canvas course.
